Self Empowerment Education Center (SEEC)
SEEC has been issued a Certificate
to Operate from the State Council for Higher Education of Virginia.
It was created specifically to provide intending practitioners of
hypnosis and hypnotherapy with the disciplines and skills necessary to
practice both competently and ethically. We believe that the
teaching/learning interaction is one of mutuality between the student
and the educator, and that the responsibility for the learning outcome
has to be shared. SEEC's role is to provide an opportunity for
academic pursuits of growth and development; to also provide
comprehensive training facilities for future generations of students
and to engage in extensive research in this field.
Please take the time to explore our web site. Ask

Opportunities
As the third millennium unfolds, hypnotherapy is
transforming many aspects of the health professions and is truly
revolutionizing the counseling professions. It is a versatile
therapeutic modality that can be applied to any area of human concern
and experience. We are honored to contribute to this endeavor by
offering powerful, innovative therapy methods to train the upcoming
leaders in the field.
Hypnotherapy is an exciting, developing field
which offers significant opportunities. Through lectures, live
demonstrations and in-class practice in an intimate, supportive setting
you will learn safe and effective ways to induce hypnosis and perform
many forms of hypnotherapy in our highly practical courses. We emphasize
brief comprehensive solutions to achieve lasting change, we include
Ericksonian, Jungian, and Gestalt approaches, along with many other
effective modalities to hypnosis. Our courses are designed to give you
extensive training to either practice hypnosis as a career or integrate
it as part of another profession in the health counseling fields.
Diplomas and Certifications
Diplomas & Certification:
SEEC is the only
organization which offers specific classes for five
different certifications upon successful completion
of its courses, as well as three other membership opportunities:
National Guild of Hypnotists, World Institute of Cognitive Sciences,
National Board of Hypnosis and Hypnotic Anaesthesiology, SEEC and the
International Council for Medical and Clinical Therapists. A Diploma is
also issued upon successful completion of all of the courses. Membership
is also available with the International Medical and Dental Association
and the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, as well
as those organizations listed above, upon completion of our courses.
Certification for Hypnotherapy: The first direct
state-certification law in the United States was passed by the Indiana
legislature in 1997. This has been hailed as the greatest legislative
accomplishment on behalf of hypnotherapists in the history of the
profession. Legislation based on the Indiana model has begun in several
states. The State of Indiana gives hypnotherapy certification directly
to individuals to practice hypnosis, and that is applied for after
graduation from a state-licensed school such as ours. Indiana requires a
350 hour course of study-SEEC offers 450 hours.
Making Wise Decisions About Your
School Selection
Other Certifications: Many organizations claim to
be hypnosis schools and offer "certification." One should avoid illegal
(not state-licensed) schools, and schools which claim any form of
"certification" for less than 150 hours of classroom instruction.
Some instructors issue certificates of completion
and imply the class is a "certification program." Good questions to ask:
Certified by whom? Who are they? What does that do for you when your
state requires licensure or registration? Will your state honor your
"Certified Hypnotherapist" form? Comparatively speaking, when a premed
student studies and passes a biology class, does this qualify him to
practice medicine?
Any school which claims the state gives its
students certification or licensure through its program is incorrect! States
approve or license SCHOOLS-not hypno-therapists (people).
Unless you are already trained in hypnosis, you
should avoid correspondence courses. Correspondence courses are
extremely limited. Students do not receive the benefit of live
demonstrations, group hypnosis processes with feedback, or supervised
practice, which is essential to perfecting any skill. E-learning is a
remarkable tool also, but it's not a good frontline training tool. It is
a wonderful backline or secondary training tool. E-learning is a
wonderful reminder. Would you accept a surgeon who learned his
profession from a correspondence course or from an online seminar?
There are a few schools that advertise degrees in
hypnotherapy with programs that are entirely correspondence courses.
These degrees may not be accredited, and are not recognized by many
hypnotherapy organizations, much less states where regulation or
licensing apply.
